CME Globex Recap: European and Asian stock markets are mixed early Monday with reports of new coronavirus infections not going away and leading to talk of new actions to restrict activity. Political tensions remain high after China took control of the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu over the weekend and the U.S. dollar index continues to fall, now near its lowest prices in almost two years. August gold is trading near its highest all-time prices, while energies are mostly lower. Grains are mixed with wheat prices trading lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 182.44 at 26,469.89 and the S&P 500 down 20.03 at 3,215.63 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.59%. Early Monday, September Dow Jones futures are up 134 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 35.76 points (-0.2%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 8.46 points (0.3%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 14.74 points (-0.2%), Germany's DAX up 33.18 points (0.3%) and France's CAC 40 down 7.56 points (-0.1%). The September euro is up $.0057 at $1.1707. The September U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.45 at 93.94. The September 30-year T-bond is up 15/32, while August gold is up $38.60 at $1,936.10 and September crude oil is down $0.02 at $41.27. Soybeans are a little higher on China's Dalian Exchange, while corn and soybean meal prices are higher. October palm oil is trading down over 3% lower, down from its highest prices in five months.
