DTN Early Word Grains 07/30 05:53 Grains Mostly Lower With Rain Falling December corn is up 1/2 cent, November soybeans are down 2 cents and September KC wheat is down 6 1/2 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is up 1/2 cent, November soybeans are down 2 cents and September KC wheat is down 6 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Dow Jones futures are lower overnight with European and Asian stock markets also lower early Thursday. According to RTTNews.com, Germany reported GDP down 11.7% in the second quarter, a larger decline than expected. The U.S. Commerce Department will report on U.S. GDP in the second quarter at 7:30 a.m. CDT and a historically large decline is expected. Meanwhile, new coronavirus infections remain an international threat and U.S. coronavirus deaths spiked higher on Tuesday and Wednesday. The September U.S. dollar index is a little higher, while August gold and September crude oil are trading lower. Grains are mostly lower with beneficial rains around the central Midwest overnight. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 160.29 at 26,539.57 and the S&P 500 up 40.00 at 3,258.44 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.58%. Early Thursday, September Dow Jones futures are down 225 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 57.88 points (-0.3%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 7.73 points (-0.2%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 83.26 points (-1.4%), Germany's DAX down 256.12 points (-2.0%) and France's CAC 40 down 41.35 points (-0.8%). The September euro is down $.0029 at $1.1749. The September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.16 at 93.60. The September 30-year T-bond is up 22/32nds, while August gold is down $12.00 at $1,941.40 and September crude oil is down $0.63 at $40.64. Soybeans and corn are slightly higher on China's Dalian Exchange, while soybean meal is slightly lower. October palm oil is trading up 1.4%, near its highest prices in five months.
