DTN Early Word Grains 08/19 05:53 Grains Mixed at Midweek December corn is down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1/4 cent, and September KC wheat is up 2 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1/4 cent, and September KC wheat is up 2 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equities are higher overnight with light gains in U.S. futures pointing towards a higher open Wednesday morning. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicated Tuesday Democrats may be open to accepting a smaller stimulus package in order to get something passed and in the hands of U.S. citizens. The trend of additional fiscal stimulus is keeping pressure on the U.S. Dollar Index which made fresh two-year lows Tuesday. Energy markets are weaker overnight but remaining in recent ranges. Precious metals are softer overnight. Grain markets are mixed with soybeans and wheat firmer while corn posts follow through weakness from Tuesday. Corn bulls continue to cite Iowa storm damage and dryness around the Midwest while bears point to weak domestic demand, soft calendar spreads and strong yield ideas outside of Iowa. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 66.84 at 27,778.07 and the S&P 500 up 7.79 at 3,381.99 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.669%. Early Wednesday, the September DJIA futures are up 39 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 59.53 (0.26%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 42.96 points (-1.24%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 4.57 points (0.08%), Germany's DAX up 29.14 points (0.23%) and France's CAC 40 up 7.39 points (0.15%). The September Euro is down 0.000 at 1.190 and the September U.S. dollar index is down 0.004 at 92.255. The September 30-Year T-Bond is up 14/32nds, while December gold is down $18.00 at $1,995.10 and September crude oil is down $0.43 at $42.46. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 2.22% while soybean meal was up 0.72%.
