DTN Early Word Grains 08/21 06:00 Grains Firm Into Weekend on Exports, Weather December corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1 1/2 cents, and December KC wheat is up 2 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1 1/2 cents, and December KC wheat is up 2 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are mixed around the globe heading into the final trading session of the week as Washington D.C. remains deadlocked in further stimulus measures for the American people. Energy markets are weaker but spot crude oil futures have been able to maintain strength above major moving averages. The U.S. Dollar Index is firmer but remains in a mostly consolidative pattern. Precious metals are softer overnight. Grain markets are firmer across the board overnight, riding a general sense of optimism into the weekend as export demand is strong for all major commodities and supply concerns persist. The general feeling in the market place is USDA forecasts will come down next month due to storm damage and drought. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 46.85 at 27,739.73 and the S&P 500 up 10.66 at 3,374.85 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.644%. Early Friday, the September DJIA futures are down 43 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 39.68 (0.17%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 16.78 points (0.5%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 down 1.04 points (-0.02%), Germany's DAX up 21.21 points (0.17%) and France's CAC 40 up 3.35 points (0.07%). The September Euro is down 0.006 at 1.180 and the September U.S. dollar index is up 0.457 at 93.235. The September 30-Year T-Bond is up 4/32nds, while December gold is down $7.80 at $1,938.70 and October crude oil is down $0.49 at $42.33. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.11% while soybean meal was down 0.96%.
