DTN Early Word Grains 08/31 05:56 Grains Look to End August on High Note December corn is up 4 3/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 14 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 6 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is up 4 3/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 14 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 6 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Mostly higher equity trade overnight with U.S. futures aimed at a higher open on the final trading session of August. With a higher close in August, U.S. equity indices will have notched five consecutive higher monthly closes. Energy markets are higher overnight with the exception of natural gas. The U.S. Dollar Index is weaker overnight and is just pips away from making fresh two-year lows. Precious metals are mixed overnight with gold lower and silver higher. Grain markets are once again stealing the show with sharply higher trade across the board. The strength during August has been impressive with funds scrambling to cut bearish exposure as crops in the United States get smaller. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 161.60 at 28,653.87 and the S&P 500 up 23.46 at 3,484.55 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.729%. Early Monday, the September DJIA futures are up 72 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 257.11 (1.12%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 8.13 points (-0.24%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 down 36.42 points (-0.61%), Germany's DAX up 92.96 points (0.72%) and France's CAC 40 up 48.4 points (1%). The September Euro is up 0.002 at 1.190 and the September U.S. dollar index is down 0.079 at 92.300. The September 30-Year T-Bond is down 10/32nds, while December gold is down $3.30 at $1,971.60 and October crude oil is up $0.50 at $43.47. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.57% while soybean meal was up 1.04%.
