DTN Early Word Grains 09/01 11:48 Grain Markets Mixed on Conditions, Technicals December corn is down 3 3/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 1/2 cent. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is down 3 3/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 1 1/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 1/2 cent. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are quiet overnight with U.S. futures pointed at a slightly higher open to begin September. August featured the largest gains for major indices in the U.S. since April. Energy markets are firmer overnight, led by RBOB gasoline futures which are up 1.17%. The U.S. Dollar Index is off by about 0.25% overnight, making fresh two-year lows for the move after consolidating for much of the last month. Gold and silver prices are higher in tandem with the dollar weakness. Grain markets are mixed overnight with corn, Chicago wheat and meal lower while soybeans, hard wheat contracts and soybean oil are firmer. Seeing grain markets hold together today after the loss of momentum and about face late on Monday's session is an encouraging sign. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 223.82 at 28,430.05 and the S&P 500 down 7.70 at 3,508.01 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.693%. Early Tuesday, the September DJIA futures are up 25 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 1.69 (-0.01%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 14.93 points (0.44%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 67.19 points (-1.13%), Germany's DAX up 83.75 points (0.65%) and France's CAC 40 up 6.1 points (0.12%). The September Euro is up 0.003 at 1.200 and the September U.S. dollar index is down 0.201 at 91.930. The September 30-Year T-Bond is down 34/32nds, while December gold is up $16.90 at $1,995.50 and October crude oil is up $0.41 at $43.02. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.57% while soybean meal was down 0.87%.
