DTN Early Word Grains 09/03 06:06 Grains Mixed Awaiting Exports December corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 2 3/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 1/2 cent. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 2 3/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 1/2 cent. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are mixed overnight, although European indices are posting solid gains, which aren't yet providing any lift to U.S. futures. Energy markets were lower overnight, following through on Wednesday's big losses with spot crude oil prices slipping below the 200-day moving averages for the first time since May. The U.S. Dollar Index is slightly higher overnight, attempting to make it three higher closes in a row, although still close to two-year lows. Precious metals are weaker overnight. Grain markets are mixed overnight with corn and Chicago wheat lower while the soy complex and Kansas City wheat are firmer. Traders are anxious to get the latest export sales data out later Thursday morning to see the full tonnage sold to China in the last week for all major grains. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 454.84 at 29,100.50 and the S&P 500 up 54.19 at 3,526.65 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 0.651%. Early Thursday, the September DJIA futures are down 28 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 218.38 (0.94%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 19.82 points (-0.58%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 40.64 points (0.68%), Germany's DAX up 163.35 points (1.23%) and France's CAC 40 up 87.56 points (1.74%). The September euro is down 0.000 at 1.180 and the September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.091 at 92.925. The December 30-year T-Bond is down 3/32nds, while December gold is down $6.70 at $1,938.00 and October crude oil is down $0.71 at $40.80. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were down 0.14% while soybean meal was up 0.03%.
