DTN Early Word Grains 10/05 05:57 Wheat Sharply Higher While Row Crops Ease Overnight December corn is steady, November soybeans are down 1/2 cent, and December KC wheat is up 8 3/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is steady, November soybeans are down 1/2 cent, and December KC wheat is up 8 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are higher overnight with U.S. futures indicating a higher open Monday morning as hopes for another round of fiscal stimulus ahead of the November election are growing. In addition, markets are also taking solace in ideas President Trump could be released from the hospital later Monday morning as he continues to recover from COVID-19. Energy markets are firmer overnight with spot month crude oil prices up over 4.0% and gasoline futures up 4.1%. The U.S. Dollar Index is softer overnight with short-term trends pointed lower. Precious metals are quietly mixed overnight. Grain markets are mixed overnight with corn and soybeans slightly lower while wheat markets tack on solid gains at all three exchanges. China remains on holiday through October 7 while the next WASDE report comes at the end of the week. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 134.09 at 27,682.81 and the S&P 500 down 32.36 at 3,380.80 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.696%. Early Monday, the December DJIA futures are up 138 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 282.24 (1.23%) while China is closed on holiday. European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 39.67 points (0.69%), Germany's DAX up 84.01 points (0.67%) and France's CAC 40 up 37.58 points (0.78%). The December Euro is up 0.004 at 1.180 and the December U.S. dollar index is down 0.234 at 93.675. The December 30-Year T-Bond is down 20/32nds, while December gold is down $2.90 at $1,904.70 and November crude oil is up $1.47 at $38.52. The Dalian Commodity Exchange is closed.
