DTN Early Word Grains 10/12 05:55 Grains Extend Gains Following USDA December corn is up 3 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 2 cents, and December KC wheat is up 2 3/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is up 3 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 2 cents, and December KC wheat is up 2 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are quietly mixed overnight with U.S. futures close to unchanged heading into the Monday session. After all of the volatility the last several months, U.S. indices are within 2.6% of all-time highs from mid-August. Energy markets are weaker overnight with crude oil back below $40.00 per barrel once again. Price action in crude oil has just not been able to move too far away from the 40-handle area the last several months. The U.S. Dollar Index is weaker, slipping below its 50-day moving average at 93.2903 Friday and remaining there Monday morning. Grain markets are higher overnight, continuing their winning ways and adding to last week's gains following the release of supportive USDA data. Harvest is closing in on the halfway mark for both corn and soybeans, meaning the bulk of harvest pressure could be in the rearview mirror. South American weather will take on added importance moving forward. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 161.39 at 28,586.90 and the S&P 500 up 30.30 at 3,446.83 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.775%. Early Monday, the December DJIA futures are down 10 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 61 (-0.26%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 86.39 points (2.64%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 down 2.96 points (-0.05%), Germany's DAX up 36.38 points (0.28%) and France's CAC 40 up 24.26 points (0.49%). The December Euro is down 0.002 at 1.180 and the December U.S. dollar index is up 0.115 at 93.180. The December 30-Year T-Bond is up 2/32nds, while December gold is up $0.60 at $1,926.80 and November crude oil is down $0.65 at $39.95. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 1.43% while soybean meal was up 0.65%.
