DTN Early Word Grains 10/15 05:57 Grains Mixed on South American Buying, Export Interest December corn is steady, November soybeans are down 7 3/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 5 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is steady, November soybeans are down 7 3/4 cents, and December KC wheat is up 5 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are lower around the globe overnight as concerns over the second wave of coronavirus cases hit Europe and doubts are expressed about a second stimulus package before the November elections in the United States. Energy markets are following equities lower with crude oil once again on the south side of 40.00 per barrel. Natural gas is bucking the lower move, however, with spot prices up over 4.5%. The U.S. dollar is firmer overnight while the Aussie dollar is down over 1.2%. Precious metals are weaker with silver down nearly 2.0%. Grain markets are mixed with wheat contracts firmer but row crops weaker after relinquishing early gains. Chicago wheat is once again trying to climb over 6.00, a level which has proven difficult to scale so far for the front month contracts. Corn and soybeans are grappling with improving forecasts in South America. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 165.81 at 28,514.00 and the S&P 500 down 23.26 at 3,511.93 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.722%. Early Thursday, the December DJIA futures are down 293 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 119.5 (-0.51%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 8.6 points (-0.26%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 129.87 points (-2.19%), Germany's DAX down 363 points (-2.79%) and France's CAC 40 down 103.53 points (-2.1%). The December Euro is down 0.004 at 1.170 and the December U.S. dollar index is up 0.339 at 93.705. The December 30-Year T-Bond is up 23/32nds, while December gold is down $8.40 at $1,898.90 and November crude oil is down $1.21 at $39.83. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.44% while soybean meal was up 0.12%.
