CME Globex Recap: Early Wednesday, Dow Jones futures are trading lower along with stock markets in Europe and Asia. Investors remain concerned the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates to curb inflation and will be watching the 1 p.m. CDT release of minutes from the Fed's April meeting. April U.S. housing starts were reported down 9.5% Tuesday, hurt by high lumber prices. Bitcoin prices fell below $40,000 overnight after Chinese authorities once again warned investors against trading in the virtual currency. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 267.13 at 34,060.66 and the S&P 500 down 35.46 at 4,127.83 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.64%. Early Wednesday, June Dow Jones futures are trading down 213 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 1.28% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.51%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.99%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 1.28% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.79%. The June euro is down $0.0021 at $1.2215. The June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.20 at 89.93. The June 30-year T-bond is down 12/32nds, while June gold is down $7.70 at $1,860.30 and July crude oil is down $1.01 at $64.48. On China's Dalian exchange, September corn was down 0.3%, July soybeans were down 0.3%, September soybean meal was down 0.9% and September soybean oil was up 0.1%. July common wheat on China's Zhengzhou exchange was unchanged. July Malaysian palm oil is trading down 3.8%.
