DTN Early Word Grains 03/03 05:38 Grain Prices Slightly Higher Early Friday May corn is up 1 cent, May soybeans are up 3 cents and May KC wheat is up 1 cent. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: May corn is up 1 cent, May soybeans are up 3 cents and May KC wheat is up 1 cent. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Friday, stock futures in the U.S. are starting a little higher, getting a boost from higher trading in both Europe and Asia. In overnight news, Japan's unemployment rate improved from 2.5% to 2.4% in January. Indices of economic activity in the service sectors, showed increases in China, India and even the Eurozone in February. ISM's index of service activity in the U.S. is due out at 9 a.m. CST. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 341.73 at 33,003.57 and the S&P 500 up 29.96 at 3,981.35. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.07%, the highest yield in over three months. Early Friday, March Dow Jones futures are up 69 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 1.56% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.54%. European markets are higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.18%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.99% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.62%. The March euro is up $0.0016 at $1.0612. The March U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.24 at 104.76. The March 30-year T-bond is up 1 full point, while April gold is up $11.90 at $1,852.40 and April crude oil is down $0.13 at $78.03. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was down 0.1%, May soybeans were up 0.6%, May soybean meal was up 0.6% and May soybean oil was up 1.0%. May Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.5%.
