The March 1 on feed report listed 11.6 million head, down 4% from March 2022. Placements in February totaled 1.73 million head, 7% below last year; marketing's in February totaled 1.74 million head, 5% less than the prior year; other disappearance in February totaled 58,000 head, 2% under the same time last year. This report will likely be found neutral to somewhat bullish by market participants. The market's fundamentals are extremely clear - fewer beef cows in the market are contributing fewer calves and feeders to be had by both feedlots and packers. It could potentially help Monday's market trade slightly higher. 5-AREA LV STR AVG(FOB)PR&WT: $164.37(1480) HIDE&OFFAL: $12.97 Unchg CARCASS EQV INDEX CHOICE (600-900#) SELECT (600-900#) HEAD SUPPLY (Live) $247.81 $233.53 98,702 DEMAND (Box) $271.35 $260.44 37,576 INDEX VALUE $259.58 -0.40 $246.99 +0.25 136,278 BEEF CUTOUTS CHOICE (600-900#) SELECT (600-900#) $283.35 -0.60 $272.44 +0.68 40.34 LDS CH CUTS / 14.31 LDS SEL CUTS / 5.31 LDS TRIM / 18.71 LDS GROUND DAILY CHOICE/SELECT SPREAD $10.91 TOTAL LOAD COUNT 79 COMPREHENSIVE WEEKLY CUTOUT VALUE: Week ending 03/03 $288.91 +7.05 CUTTER 90% 350# UP C/O: $215.95 +5.15 NAT'L BONELESS BF TRIM: 18.05 lds / Mostly shrply hr on mod-gd dem & lt offers 90% TRIM: 07 lds: Wtd Avg: $277.78 / Sharply higher FI KILL(WTD) FRI 113(614) WK AGO 114(616) YR AGO 100(593) MIX: THU SH95/CB28 SAT 17(631) WK AGO 18(634) YR AGO 42(636) WEEKLY CANADIAN CATTLE IMPORTS.
