DTN Early Word Grains 10/09 05:47 U.S Crop Prices Higher Following Attack on Israel December corn was up 4 cents, November soybeans were up 8 cents and December KC wheat was up 9 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: December corn was up 4 cents, November soybeans were up 8 cents and December KC wheat was up 9 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Monday, Dow Jones futures are trading down 143 points, responding to news of an orchestrated attack on Israel over the weekend. It is not yet clear how much fighting may escalate, but traders are favoring commodities early Monday. Also on Monday, government offices, banks and bond markets are closed for Columbus Day/Indigenous People Day and the U.S. government remains impaired without a Speaker of the House. U.S. stock and futures markets are open, however. USDA's reports of exports inspections and crop progress will be released Tuesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 288.01 at 33,407.58 and the S&P 500 Index up 50.31 at 4,308.50. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.78%. Early Monday, December Dow Jones futures are down 143 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.55%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.27% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.10%. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.26% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.44%.
