DTN Closing Grain Comments 10/19 14:01 Soybeans, Soymeal Extend Bull Move; Corn, Chicago Wheat Surge Late In what began as a quiet day lacking news, volatile trade pushed soybeans and soymeal higher again. Corn and wheat overcame early pressure to finish sharply higher with December corn finishing well over $5.00 and Chicago wheat soaring. Soybean oil was the dog of the day -- down for the third straight day on world veg oil weakness and meal spreading. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: December corn closed up 13 cents per bushel at $5.05 and March corn was up 10 1/2 cents at $5.17. November soybeans closed up 4 1/2 cents at $13.16 and January soybeans were up 2 1/2 cents at $13.31 3/4. December KC wheat closed up 5 3/4 cents at $6.76, December Chicago wheat was up 13 3/4 cents at $5.94 and December Minneapolis wheat was up 5 cents at $7.39.
