DTN Early Word Grains 01/11 05:52 Grain Markets Mostly Higher Thursday Morning on Short Covering Ahead of USDA Reports Friday March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are up 8 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is down 1/4 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 3/4 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst Friday's GLOBEX CLOSES: March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are up 8 1/4 cents, March KC wheat is down 1/4 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 3/4 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World and U.S. equity markets quiet and mixed ahead of Thursday morning's important CPI report that will be released at 7:30 CST. Equity markets rebounded Wednesday in the U.S., although many analysts seem concerned about the number of interest rate hikes compared to the number priced in by the marketplace. Thursday morning's higher trade may indicate that expectations are for a good CPI number, and the average trade estimate for the report is up 0.2% for the month, and up 3.2% year over year. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 170.57 at 37,695.73 and the S&P 500 up 26.95 at 4,783.45, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.03%. Early Thursday, the March Dow Jones Futures are up 8 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading down 0.07%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading up 0.18% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index up 0.17%. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 1.77% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.31%.
