DTN Closing Grain Comments 08/20 13:57 Wheat Rises for Third Straight Day; Soybeans Get Only a Minor Boost From More New Sales The wheat markets completed a rare 3-day rise following early morning weakness Tuesday. With crop concerns in the EU, Black Sea and possibly Argentina, U.S. wheat export prospects are likely to improve. USDA announced additional soybean sales amounting to 13.7 mb to China and Mexico, but beans could only finish unchanged. Corn struggled to gain any upward traction on Tuesday as crop conditions continued to be excellent, closing lower. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: December corn was down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans finished unchanged. December KC wheat was up 4 3/4 cents per bushel, September Chicago wheat closed up 4 3/4 cents per bushel and December Minneapolis wheat was up 3 cents. The September U.S. Dollar Index is trading down 0.431 at 101.300. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 24.20 points at 40,872.33. December gold is up $11.90 at $2,553.20, September silver is up $0.25 at $29.56 and September copper is down $0.0260 at $4.1545. October crude oil is down $0.45 at $73.21, October heating oil is up $0.0006, October RBOB is down $0.0095 and September natural gas is down $0.027.
