Exporters rolled bids to the December futures and carries in those deferred futures softened up nearby basis levels. Cash bids remain flat across all three classes of wheat as no carries are posted until October. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a solid rebound in wheat shipments, coming in at nearly 20 mbus to put year-to-date loadings at 189 mbus and 27% ahead of a year ago. Soft red winter was the top mover with 6.5 mbus, followed by hard red spring with 6.1 mbus, hard red winter with 3.8 mbus of soft white at 3.2 mbus. West coast shipments showed a total of 10.5 mbus moved, with South Korea being the primary taker, and a small amount of corn and beans shipped for Japan and China. Crop Progress...Winter wheat harvest is virtually complete across the Pacific Northwest, with Oregon reporting 97% complete, Washington at 95% and Idaho 90%. Winter wheat planting is also underway, on track with the average pace, with Washington showing nearly 10% of the crop planted. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2024 DTN/Telvent.
