Grower selling interest remains limited and exporters worked to entice some movement. New crop August cash bids were actually bid at a premium to old crop, posted at $6.25 on Tuesday. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a marked slowdown in wheat movement off U.S. ports for the second straight week, coming in at just 7.2 mbus. This places year-to-date loadings at 379 mbus, which is 31% below a year ago. Hard red spring saw 2.7 mbus shipped, hard red winter was at 2.2 mbus and soft white at 1.5 mbus. Taiwan and South Korea accounted for the 3.6 mbus of wheat moved off the west coast, with exporters also loading 21.5 mbus of soybeans that went primarily to China. Crop Progress...Pacific Northwest winter wheat conditions countered the nationwide improvement over the past week, with Oregon and Washington posting declines and Idaho gaining some ground. Good to excellent for Oregon slipped 7 points to 60% and Washington dropped a point to 53%. Idaho gained 8 points in that category, setting at 47% good to excellent. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2024 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
